Having qualified as a doctor from the University of Newcastle-upon-Tyne, in 1994, Susie gained her hospital experience in various parts of the UK from Inverness to Salisbury. She spent 6 months in Central America as a medic for a Raleigh International Expedition, and 10 months in Kenya, working for Voluntary Service Overseas. She finally settled in South West London and worked for 9 years at Brocklebank Group Practice in Wandsworth, the last 6 of those as a partner.

As a young female GP in London, she saw a lot of women and young families, so developed a particular interest in paediatrics and gynaecology. However, she loves the variety of general practice, and was also heavily involved in teaching (becoming an Honorary Senior Lecturer at St George’s medical school), was a BBC diary doctor, advised Wandsworth Prison on prescribing and IT issues, and worked as a GP appraiser for Wandsworth Primary Care Trust.

Susie is married with 4 children (oldest born in 2004), is a keen musician and loves mountains.
