In an emergency, dial 112
If you feel that the emergency is life-threatening, please specify that you need the SAMU (an ambulance with a doctor on board will be sent.)
If you need to attend an accident and emergency department outside normal working hours, you should ring 112 and they will tell you which hospital is receiving patients.
For children under the age of 14 years, the Kanner clinic at Centre Hospitalier de Luxembourg , is open 365 days a year, 24 hours a day.
Out of Hours
For occasions where you need to see a general practitioner out of hours, you can attend one of the 3 “maison médicales”.
They are at the following addresses:
- Luxembourg-ville – 23, Val Fleuri L-1526 , Luxembourg
- Ettelbruck – 110, avenue Lucien Salentiny, L-9080 Ettelbruck
- Belval – 3-5 Avenue du Swing, L- 4367 Belvaux
During the week, this service is available from 8pm until 7am the next morning. At weekends, it operates from 8pm on the Friday evening until 7am on the Monday morning. It is also open on national holidays.
In the evening until midnight, you can simply attend without an appointment.
After midnight, if you need medical advice you should call 112; you will be able to speak with the on call doctor and may be given an appointment at one of the Maison Medicales listed above, or a home visit may be arranged if needed.
