Flu vaccines
Flu vaccine available from 6th October – please read details below.
For children aged 2-17 years, the government this year is providing nasal flu vaccines. This needs to be given by a doctor in medical premises but is painless and easy for the child. If they are unwell with fever or a wheezy cough, it is not possible to give the vaccine, but otherwise, even if your child has a stuffy nose, they can receive the vaccine.
For further information about the nasal flu vaccine, see here, https://www2.hse.ie/conditions/flu/childrens-flu-vaccine/
We will be offering flu clinics for children at the following times.
Tuesdays 17h-18h with Dr Frankland and Brannac
Wednesdays 16h-17h with Dr Tunstall
Thursday 17h -18h with Dr Scheefer
Please call us beforehand to let us know which clinic you are coming to, so that we can confirm that we have enough vaccines. Do understand that these clinics are for the flu vaccines only, other health issues or other vaccines will not be discussed and repeat prescriptions will not be issued.
The vaccine is free. The time with the doctor will incur a normal consultation charge (which is covered 100% by the CNS if your child is insured with them).
For adults attending with your child, we can also offer an injectable flu vaccine or adults can book an appointment for themselves. We can also offer appointments if there is a whole family coming together for vaccines.
For adults, if you are 65 years or above, or are in an at-risk group, the vaccine is free-of-charge to CNS patients. For those not covered by the CNS, or who are younger and choose to take the vaccine, the standard vaccine costs 20 euros and the high dose vaccine (for 65s and over or immunosuppressed patients) costs 30 euros. This needs to be paid in cash at the time of the appointment. There is also a standard consultation charge.
